Just wanted to drop in and say thanks to everyone that came to The Little Craft Show!
It was a huge success! I sold all but one of my photo blocks/boxes. I was a little shocked actually.
I'm so proud of my hometown of Fayetteville for being so supportive of  their local artists.
I took a few pics at the show and will try to share some soon. Until then, here are some more photos
of my cats in that magical window light that I love.

It's almost time!

It's almost time for The Little Craft Show! I've been working like crazy to get all my goods ready!
My booth will be full of photo boxes/blocks, prints, greeting cards, and tiny gift cards
featuring my photography that I've taken in the past five years.
As soon as things calm down around here I'm going to reopen my etsy shop with lots of new things.
I started a facebook fan page for blog post updates and news about my work. If you're on facebook, please pop on over there and like my page. Thanks!!
I'm going to our local NPR studio today to be interviewed about my work and The Little Craft Show. It will be aired on Ozarks At Large. I'll share more details when I find out. I'm pretty nervous about it, but I'm sure I'll do fine. I hope.
Wish me luck

Hello, November

diptych

We made some pretty cool diptychs over at Words To Shoot By this week. Hop on over and check them out! I got those two wooden lovelies at the War Eagle Craft fair last month. I love them.

Speaking of craft fairs...I found out on Friday that I was accepted to take part in
I'm so excited about it, but I have a lot of work to get done. I was waiting to find out before I made up lots of goodies for the show. I'm going to have wooden blocks/circles with my photos mounted on them, greeting cards, gift tag cards, and prints for sale. The show is Sat. December 1st from 10-6.
Please come by and support your local artists and crafters!

their last days

autumn glow

How beautifully leaves grow old.  How full of light and color are their last days.
~John Burroughs

gypsy

Yesterday I carried Gypsy to the deck window so she could watch the leaves blowing in the wind.
It made me think of this photo I took of her on the deck last fall. I remember watching her chasing the leaves around, making a leaf kill as needed. I ran to get my camera and got this stunning shot of her.
I'm so glad to have it.

photograph what you love

photograph what you love . cosmos . .

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about where I want to go with my photography.
For years it's been just a hobby with a few etsy sales and portrait sessions for friends/family. I think I'm ready to do more. I would love to make it my full time job. So, that's left me thinking about what I want to offer and what to photograph. Today I was home sick and decided to watch my What Remains: The Life and Work of Sally Mann dvd and I was struck deep by her philosophy on art.

"...the things that are close to you, are the things you can photograph the best..."

"and unless you photograph what you love, you are not going to make good art."

~ sally mann

It's that simple. I love to photograph nature and animals. I have some ideas brewing about how to bring those two loves together. It's going to happen.

volkswagen festival

volkswagen fest volksdip1 volksdip2 172 volksdip3 154 vw volksdip4 206

These were taken at the Volkswagen Festival in Eureka Springs. Rob and I have gone for the past
four years. We have wanted a vw camper bus FOREVER! My parents had a red one when I was a kid and we always had a blast buzzing around in it. Buzzing was the only thing I could think of to describe that cute VW sound. Hopefully we will have one of our own someday.

my gypsy queen

gypsy queen

for my gypsy queen

.

Hello. It's been a long time since I was here. I've had a stressful month!
My sweet Gypsy has been very ill. It started with vomiting and then we noticed that
she was having trouble breathing. She has been through so much with car rides to the vets and testing to find out she has lung disease possibly from asthma or that other horrible thing I don't even want to think about. We have started her on steroids and something for her nausea.
She is slowly starting to feel a little better. I'm thankful for that. I know in my heart that she is getting old and my time with her is limited.
I just have to enjoy everyday I have with her. That's all I can do.
This song always reminds me of her.

"You're gonna dance on Gypsy Queen
Stars shine down on you
Yeah, ev'rything alright
Ooo-wee
I wanna throw my arms around you
I'm so glad I found you Gypsy Queen."

summer goodness

jars of local honey summer goodness 365 382 253

The light is starting to change everyday. I know summer is fading.
I'll be sad to see her go, but I know I will welcome fall with open arms. I'm ready.
Until then, here are a few I found from my vacation this summer. Those peaches were amazing!

I took these photos at Steel Creek  back in April on a camping trip. I've camped there many times through the years, but I had never really captured what I love about most about that area. The crystal clear river water, the rocks, that amazing old tree on the path to the bank, and the always so curious damselflys. Well...on this trip I was lucky to have nice light and lots of time by myself to take photos. I hope you enjoy them! If you're ever in Arkansas, check out the upper Buffalo River area.
It will steal your heart.
