I'm still working on pictures from our trip last summer to California. I've been meaning to get back to them for some time now...soooo here goes. These were all taken on our trek up the 101 through the Redwood Coast. I loved snapping pics at all the kitschy tourist stops along the way... and believe me there were a lot of them. We had planned on camping, but because of the rain and being super tired we decided to stay in motels both nights. The first night we stayed in Arcata. We had the best ever humboldt grass fed burgers and hemp ale at Humboldt Brews and then spent the rest of the evening walking through the park and around downtown. I saw a cat sleeping in a record store window which I thought was so cool that they let a cat live in the store. I wish they had been open.
I have two more parts to this Redwood Coast journey coming soon! Lots of photos from Klamath, Lady Bird Johnson Grove, and Hidden Beach.

papilio glaucus

papilio glaucus

I spent my sunday outside with the blossoming trees and butterflies. Just as I was leaving to go
home and have some lunch a beautiful tiger swallowtail (papilio glaucus) swept by me and landed
on a flowering tree for a sip. She let me photograph her for well over ten minutes, which is pretty good for a butterfly. They move around a lot so you have to have patience to photograph them.
Butterflies make my heart sing. I've always loved watching their graceful flight.

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

on the road

on the road

I have a few roadtrips coming soon. This week I'll be traveling to Tulsa to see Jack White at
Cains Ballroom. I can't believe I got tickets. It sold out in five mins. Crazy!! I'm also planning a trip
to Austin for my b-day in April. It's where Rob and I began fifteen years ago so I'm pretty excited to see  it again.

We have sping fever big time. I've been spending my days thinking about what plants I'm going
to grow, patio furniture, and bird feeders. I got some catnip seeds today to grow for the cats. As you can see Danko (the dude) approves. That photo of him was taken after a catnip party.
All of the trees are starting to bloom out. I saw a cherry blossom tree yesterday that took my breath away. I plan on going back tomorrow armed with a camera.
