What a wild summer it has been so far! I've moved to a new home in the country. Raised monarch butterflies and released them. Watched fawns playing from my office window. Seen the most
lightning bugs I've ever seen at once in my front yard.
I'm loving this living in the country thing. Hope everyone is having a fun summer!

pretty ladies

On a recent hike at Tanyard Creek I got to photograph some beautiful butterflies. The first one is a
Albino Female Orange Sulphur and the other a Gray Hairstreak. Both were gorgeous and I was beyond excited to spot them. There is nothing better than starting my day with a walk and my camera. You never know what you will see. This has been a great summer for photography with all the much needed rain we have had. I'm going to miss summer when she goes.

One early morning in June, I was lucky to get to share a rain soaked poppy patch with the bees. I sat
for hours watching them buzz all around me happily working away. Something about the gentle sound of their buzzing from flower to flower is so calming to me.

I hope to someday have my own flower gardens and maybe even a hive or two of bees. I want to make my property pollinator friendly. Lots of flowers and sweets for the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. I will give them what they want and I will get their company in return.

Sadly, the sweet little pollinators are in trouble. We can all help by creating more habitats and NOT using any pesticides! Please check out the links below for more info on saving our pollinators.

If you want to watch a beautiful nature documentary about our pollinators check out Wings of Life.
It's STUNNING and narrated by Meryl Streep.

forest wilderness

I went on a much needed walk in the woods the other day. It was the first time I had been out
to take pictures in a long time. April is one of my favorite months to hike in Arkansas. The wildflowers and waterfalls come to life and create a magical forest wilderness.

I also wanted to try out my new Lensbaby edge 80 optic that I got for Christmas. I was able to get a few shots that I liked with it, but I need to practice more. Most of the shots were just too blurry. I can tell that I'm going to love using it though.

Hope everyone is enjoying the spring season!

sitting by the merced river

the merced river

Long-time Yosemite naturalist Carl Sharsmith was once asked what he would do if he only had a day to see Yosemite. "Madam," he replied, "I'd sit by the Merced River and cry."

I got to see as much as I could in two days at Yosemite. It was not enough time. I did manage to
sit by the Merced river for an hour one day. I will never forget the total feeling of peace surrounding me and the sweet smell in the air from the lupine wildflowers nearby.

I can't wait to go back to Yosemite someday and dip my feet in that cold mountain water of the
Merced river.

the way I see you

the way I see you

These were taken on my birthday last month on the Crystal Bridges Trail.
The museum is filled with beautiful art, but I think the outside of it has some pretty special
art of it's own.

field of lace

the last light
lacedip

Last weekend my mom and I found a lovely field of Queen Anne's lace at the magic hour.
We took photos and watched a beautiful sunset together. She is always so patient while I'm
trying to get that perfect shot. I love that about her.

a fairy and the daisies

The daisy is my all time favorite wildflower. Every year I look forward to seeing them
popping up on roadsides and in fields.
I like lying back in the grass and photographing them against the sky.
This week was a good one for pictures.
A misty field of wildflowers after a spring storm and
Lula, my lil' forest fairy friend turned one year old.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Lula Mae!
